Lengthy reading passages will be on the AP Test. Reading comprehension is also crucial to success in college. To that end, students are to read two oustide reading books in APWH and at least one in Pre-AP.

1. What do I read for AP World History?
Siddhartha by Herman Hesse (118 pages-there should be a free book available on the IPAD via iBooks AND
Destiny Disrupted by Tamim Ansary (372 pages) in Semester 1/beginning of Semester 2 AND The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang (246 pages) in Semester 2 ( over 700 pages of outside reading! Great for reading comprehension on the AP test!)

2. What do I read for Pre-AP? Siddhartha by Herman Hesse (118 pages-there should be a free book available on the IPAD via iBooks) AND A History of the World in 6 Glasses by Tom Standage (290 pages).

3. How long will it take me?
To calculate how many pages you should be reading per month, fill out this formula:
Number of pages in my book_ divided by 3 months = pages/month
To find out how many pages per week divide the pages/month # by 4 weeks: pages/week

4. How much will it cost?
If cost is any issue, please see me and I can see about loaning you a book. However, most of these books can be found for free at your local library or through other resourceful means. You can also purchase used or new copies through online retailers such as Amazon.com
